All right, so I have seen what everyone’s go to slop lure is. What is your favorite bait and time of year for Giants. Just curious what some of the guys who chase bass from spring to winter like for chasing the largest fish in a given body of water.

Fall, late as possible and then I will throw the big deep divers along a drop or near their wintering holes.
You can pound the pigs then and it amazes me at how big a bait you can throw, but they, (the bass) are looking for the best bite for their buck!

I think if your going after a kicker its tough to go wrong with a jig or large texas-rigged bait.

I still really like fishing Slug-O’s. I also like using double tail grubs and swimming them back over weeds with a light jighead or just texas rigged with a light, smaller hook. Always figured bass thought they were small frogs.

Have any or you tried Carolina Rigging a horny toad. Actually, I use the Venom Bully Frog. I like the greenpumpkin with the white or yellow bellies. Most cases when I get bites they are big bass and they hammer it. Also, in farm ponds around here small bluegill work well.

Might have caught a few bass in Kansas on leapord frogs There actually was, and still may be a season on frogs. Haven’t thought of that in a long time.

I love tubes but this year my big bass producer
has been a deep diving crank. I’ve also caught
3 walleyes over 25″ on them while fishing for
    bass.

Ice out to mid May= texas rigged baby brush hog or dark colored flipping jig on wood

Mid May thru June=Dark colored swim jigs and frogs (spro or swamp donkey)

early July- Spro or swamp donkey in heavy pads and slop (also works well through June and august)

late July thru Mid september- light/flashy colored swim jigs, flukes, and rattle traps

Mid september-ice up- Deep cranks, big texas rigged worms and creatures, big carolina rigged worms and creatures, rattle traps, spinnerbaits

this is what I have found my success with for big bass. It usually is directly related to the ammount/size of baitfish on the river and what type (shad or bluegills). As July winds down, the shad growth becomes apparent and thats when I start finding big fish schooled up. I’ve already started to see it on some sand points with current on them on pool 8.
