Fishing with flukes

My favorite bass bait in the area I fish is a green pumpkin fluke. I like to fish it very slowly, allowing it to sink between twitches. Occasionally, I will use a small split shot 18 inches above the hook for deeper water. Anybody have a recommendation for a bait that is similar in style and technique that might give me an edge when the fluke is not producing like it usually does?

I usually fish them fast on top when fishing smallies on the river. White green and blue are what are usually in my boat.

Flukes have to rank pretty high on their versatility of presentations. I burn through about 40 or so bags a year, using them for everything from bass to chinooks.
Random order of how I use them
    Drop shots
    unweighted on a worm hook
    Pegged with finishing nails
Carolina rig with a foam float
Darter head jigs from 1/16 to 1/2oz
round head jigs 1/16 to 1/4oz (different fall)
    spinner bait trailer
1/8 oz jig head set beneath a float and drifted ( especially good at turn-over when weeds lay down and bass suspend)

Change up the size your using or cut them down. Some days it seems a smaller profile sticks more fish
    trailer for hair jigs

A Dipper or Keitech style swimbait, a Zoom Trick Worm, Zoom Ulta Vibe Speed Worm, a paddle tail worm, and a Gambler Flapp’n Shad.

I love fluke style baits. They are very versatile. A lot of baits come to mind as alternatives but one of my favorite presentations is swimming jigs. I like flukes and swimming jigs in 1-5 f.o.w. and a jig and swimbait from about 5-10 f.o.w.
