Where is everyone heading for the Bass opener tomorrow? How are you planning on catching them?

I think I am going to hit a smaller Metro lake. With the warm temps this last week I hope the water temps have came up alot since last weekend. I’d think if the water temps are in the upper 50’s there should be some fish up shallow at least cruising around. Plan to throw swim jigs and weightless stick baits alot. If water Temps are still low and the fish are not shallow I will back off to main lake points near spawning area’s and throw crankbaits and rattle traps. So much for delaying the bass opener to get the bass thru the spawn – I don’t think the spawn has even started yet the last few season by the delayed opener. Hopefully they will change the opener next year to the main opener date ( Even if it is for catch and release only the 1st 2 weeks )

I’ll be on my favorite East Metro Bass lake, 8 weight fly rod in hand, looking for a top water bite at dawn. Otherwise it will be smaller streamers along the weedlines.

    Good luck tomorrow!

Not going but went looking for pike in the weeds yesterday, throwing a rattlin rapala. All I could get to bite were pesky bass in the green weeds.

As tradition I’m fishing a small friends and family tournament on a small local lake. Its my favorite tournament of the year as its the only one my daughter wants to fish with me. Looks like perfect weather and fish should be going pretty good.

I’ll be picking my Dad up at about 5am and plan on being on the water by 530 on good ol’ WBL. I can’t wait and your right, it is the true opener!
