I spent a solid day at the Chicagoland (Bass University) Fishing Show a week ago… WOW!!! I don’t know how anyone can decide what to buy…Really… I played with all the new reels…Lew’s, Shimano, Diawa, Garcia, Pflueger etc…
They are all terrific… The new Quantum Tour MG was insanely light at 5.4oz and smooth…The Lew’s BB1 Pro was like liquid glass…as were the new Curado and Revo.
I was a little disappointed that St Croix had no new offerings in their USA made rods to oogle over…
I am mostly a jig/T Rig/Pitchin plastics guy and there were lots of great feeling rods from Dobyns, Powell, Denali, Duckett, Quantum and Kistler. For the budget minded…Duckett Ghost, Abu Veritas, Powell Diesel, Quantum Accurist, and of course the Mojo line.

Nu Tech jigs had an amazing booth showing their nearly snag less performance… Strike King had literally 100s of products… I came home with some goodies and an empty wallet…but hey! Isn’t that why we go to fishing shows?

New tackle is great and always fun to see what is new…I was at Cabelas just last week and didn’t see alot of new stuff so maybe they haven’t stocked up yet for 2014.

You will have to report back what you find is worth buying that’s new for 2014.

I stopped in our Green Bay Store last Tues and there was no 2014 product in there either… The Midwest Spring Fishing Events for Green Bay, Richmond Wisc and Gurnee Illinois (Cabelas and BPS) is scheduled for March 1&2…I will be in Green Bay assisting the Fishing Dept and customers both Sat and Sun. I hope to see some IDOers that weekend!
