For my afternoon fishing trip today, I returned to one of the Watershed Ponds just West of Goodhue. I was looking for crappies & sunfish, so I found a wind blown shore, and cast out a small orange jig with a waxworm on it, about 14″ below a bobber. I was surprised when after a short shutout period, I found a largemouth leaping out of the thick coontails. I tried again, and after losing my jig, I replaced it with a chartreuse & a plastic minnow. This time, a 2+ pounder fought for it’s freedom and lost, only to be returned to the water. Three more times, I landed bass, two about a pound, and one little sister to the first runt. I watched two other fishermen casting the opposite shore with no success for about an hour, while I either caught fish or fed a jig eating log. No pannies where I usually caught them, but a fun, relaxing trip with a 30 minute walk tacked on both ends of fishing.
I found Bass!
