Well going out monday to try my hand at some bass fishing. It has been years since i have been bass fishing so i thought it is about time to get back out and enjoy the fight. Anyone fishing this lake now and if so how is the bite?

I can’t say much for Big Marine, but I went out to White Bear this morning and caught quite a few bass on drop shots and crankbaits all around the weed lines. Big Marine and White Bear have similar water clarity and weed structure with the natural foliage and milfoil. Milfoil is starting to come up, but not thick yet. Good Luck.

How’s the launch this year? See many musky guys too? I usually fish the lake a lot but was on bald instead.

The launch is up a bit from last fall when it was really low, but is still basically a one boat launch. There were a ton of musky guys out, I think we were the only bass guys out on White Bear. All around the lake you could hear the double cowgirl chimes. I did see some small to mid size musky chasing around on the emerging milfoil beds. This cool front will probably really shut things down for a few days unfortunately.

I always laugh at the chime of a DCG. That’s the funny thing in the metro lakes, if there’s fish chasing bucktails, everyone is having success. If they don’t want DCG, its a slow day haha.
