bass haven’t even started spawning in the southern Metro in MN. I’d imagine the same everywhere else…

Largies and smallies are just starting to spawn here in Iowa on the miss and would likely all finish up if the weather would stabilize for a few days. Whites are done.

Like others have said unless the water temps are way warmer there than Here in the metro area they have not even began. I am starting to think we will be fishing bedding fish here on the 4th of july at this rate. Given the forcaste for the next week or so here the water temps are not likely to go up much if any at all. Not sure how long those bass can hold onto those eggs. The females I caught last weekend looked like they were about ready to explode

    I beg to Differ Adam,

I was on a SW Metro (Northern Carver County) lake Monday, Water Temp. 57-58f

Saw Largemouth on Beds (Approx. 30-40 Beds) all along one NE Shoreline in 4-6fow. Sitting tight guarding the Beds.

Yes, a few 3-4lb’ers bit my presentations. May vary lake to lake, but I was surprised to see them sitting tight, attacking virtually anything that came close.

Not saying you are wrong or anything because I am SURE they were up because I have been out and seen fish up everyday I’ve been out. The fish are not locked on beds however, they are mainly “swimmers” they come back to their bed and protect it but with all this weather that has been going through they leave. If you would have gone back to your lake the next day I am willing to bet they were no where to be seen. That is why you can go on any lake now and see empty beds everywhere. That and the fact that every crappie in the lake is locked on beds right now. Largemouth need higher water temps AND a moon phase. This moon phase is about to pass with little to no fish spawning. I’m sure a few have spawned but no where near the whole lake has. I’m still catching fish in pre spawn and staging areas right now. You can’t even technically “bed fish” because the fish are so fricken skittish right now with the weather.

I agree with Adam per my observations this week…
Bigger deeper lakes up here have virtually no beds…smaller shallower lakes have some beds with mostly males hanging around.
No Lakes here over 60 degrees yet…

Today I caught about 40 bass on beds full of spawn still… And a few males even milked in my boat!

I live in Ely mn and lake Temps were around 58 but where I caught fish ranged from 59-64.5. I would have to say it happening here on the iron range… And the bite is AWESOME!!
