Closest lakes to MN to go bass fishing right now!

    Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. As of right now I’ve though of Lake of the Ozarks and newton and egypt (power plant lakes in IL). Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I’m about to go crazy if I don’t go bass fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Lake Columbia in Wisconsin is a warm water discharge lake open all year round with good bass fishing, google it up

    Check out Newton Lake in IL. Power plant lake, loaded with largies.

    I feel your pain, I need to catch some bass in the worst way. If I could afford it I would be headed to Truman lake right now. It’s closer then lake of the ozarks and much better fishing. From st Paul it should only be about a ten hour drive.

    I have been down to Bull Shoals Arkansas this time of year and snagged a few bass. Wait a few weeks and the crappie bite will be full force.

    If you’re coming down to Illinois for the bass right now, remember to bring your extra large plastics. I see you’re looking to head towards the southern half of Illinois. If you plan your trip right, you could hit the Southern Lakes and stop by some of the cooling lakes near Chicago like Lasalle and Heidecke on your way back north. If you run through this weekend or early next week, the Coho salmon bite on Lake Michigan should be getting hot by the looks of the wind forcasts.
