I purchased a 5″ Strikemaster Lazer Hand auger and it does not seem to cut as well as a friends. Noticed it was made in china now and I think the blades on it were also made in china. His auger and blades were made in Sweden. Wondering if anyone else has had problems with the new strikemaster hand augers. Maybe cut better with new made in sweden blades?

I would buy a nils 6″ but used one once and it drilled really easy but left a ton of slush in the hole even after working the auger up and down to clean out shavings. The 4 1/2″ din’t leave near as much slush but I think that hole is a little small.

Are you serious 6 and 4 1/2 that’s 2/1/2 diffrence and they all leave slush your cutting ice

Its 1 1/2. The 6″ has a bigger gap between the flighting and the edge of the hole, so it doesnt push as much of the slush out of the hole. the 4.5 is a little smaller gap so it pushes more slush out. The 6″ will leave more in the hole.

Your 5″ lazer cuts like crap because it has chinese blades on it. The chinese blades are CRAP with a capital K. Call or email strikemaster and tell them your auger will not cut well, they will ask for the #’s off the blades and will send you a free pair of Sweden blades. Whenever you go to buy replacements make sure they are made in Sweden.
