I would like to compile a list of the best smallmouth river lures.

My favorite is explosive, suspenseful, and covers water quickly, the Buzzbait.

    What’s on your list?

If I could only pick one lure it would be a white spinnerbait.

I do quite well on just a 3/16th oz jig and my favorite plastic of the day. On pool 11 this weekend the fish were really enjoying king’s ale 3.25″ paddle tails on said jig size.

My favorite is a Jimmy D’s “river bug” jig in black or olive.

Love my custom painted Zara Spooks, from Bait Werks. They’re not too big and not too little, perfect bite for the river Smallies!

I’m with you, if I could only have 1 lure. Although it would be a toss up between that and a Salmo Boxer or Bullhead.

1/4 oz (or so) jighead and a Milky White or Motoroil Gold K Grub on a spinner is deadly.

Are you adding a Hairpin spinner to the jig? Fishing in lakes or streams with this setup?

I’ve had really good luck with Bass Pro’s round head finese jigs (Chompers makes them) in brown, hot Cinnamon and brwn purple with matching zoom speed craw trailers.

I also like my bone colored yellow magic popper but only if I know that there aren’t any pike or muskies nearby
