Looking for input on casting jigs. I don’t have a great deal of experience with jigs, but have not come across one that sets itself apart yet. Suggestions appreciated.

Bret, please educate this catfishing guy.

Is the OP asking about a jig “head” or a lure? IYO?

Another good call BrianK. The BFN 1/8oz Purple Pearl H2O Precision Jig head tipped with a 3inch Baby Shad Cracker from Anglers Guide HQ, AKA Dean’ Tackle box whopped up on some darn nice smallies this year already!

Being in the Bass forum I’m guessing we are mainly talking Swim Jigs. But I have been wrong once before

I have fished a fair # od swim jigs and one of the best that I’ve found is made by RC tackle. They swim great, The paint finish is the best I’ve found, Quality Hooks. and I really like the keeper barb on them – They come in a variety of sizes and colors to match almost any fishing situation or location.
You can check them out at rctackle.com

Lethal Weapon has great jigs, so does outkast tackle.

Check out the tabu tackle open water jigs. The retail price on them is kind of high, but they are pretty nice.

When you talk about casting jigs,I think of fishing jigs on weed lines and in weeds. Here is a 3/8 All Terrain rattleing jig and havoc trailer. the other 1 is a Brovarny Swim Jig you can use a lot of different types of trailers, single&double tail,I’ve used little swim baits too! Swim jigs you cast and fish a lot like a spinner bait the advantage of pulling a SJ through pads and other junk without hanging up your blades. The other jig, fish like other bottom baits drag, hop or what ever the fish like! I hope this helps a little.

Thank you for the suggestions and tips. I have not tried any of the mentioned jigs and will give them a look. Plan to be up near Aitkin again this year for the bass opener to try them out.

I really like the Brovarney Jigs for quality, but wish they had a wide gap hook in lieu of the round bend.
Here’s a very small sample of the ones I make

Those look great Randy. I have always wanted to try rod and lure building. I plan to get some Brovarney’s, as well as some of the other suggested jigs and see what I like.
    Thanks!

All terrain makes some nice jigs. they got a new skippin jig that I’m gonna try swimmin with. The football jigs they make are great for all around casting.
