Anyone have any tips for minimizing line twist while respooling? I’m trying to put mono my new baitcaster and am running into some serious problems.

    Thanks.

Line twists putting it on a baitcaster? You must be doing it seriously wrong.

Make sure the line comes off the spool counter clock wise..

Make sure the filler spool is mounted on a spindle or something to spin. I know that many people have their own subtle methods and tricks that works for them. I’ve always followed the line coming from the bottom of the spool method. Since the idea is to have the line spooled onto the reel with the opposite memory coil of that was on the spool. However I think it’s more important to make sure the line wounds onto the reel spool evenly. That will vary in method, depending on the shape of the spool arbor. So it kind of relies on how one manually finger guides the line wind rather than just rely only on the line guide on the reel.
