We all know about the great walleye fishing in P2 but what about the smallmouth fishing? I have caught a few smaller ones fishing WD’s but have never really targeted them. There sure is alot of nice rip rap I know they really like. I have fished quite a bit by Elk River and that can be very good for smallmouth but the river is more “bouldery” up there.
Anybody care to offer advice or past experiences on P2 for smallmouth (don’t have to share secret spots)??
I’ll speak for the mid to bottom part of the pool, the St. Paul airport area provides lots of rip rap and nice fish. Last year was one of my best years for smallies in that area. Anyone guess where this one is?

Mediocre….at best.
I have caught them up to just under five pounds. Have a pic but I can’t give away all my secrets;) Overall though the fish run smaller than pools 4-7. I still enjoy chasing them, plus a lot of spots can kick out smallies or walleyes, or cats, sheepies, pike, sauger, white bass etc.
