Fun morning on Minnewashta, over a dozen 14″-17″ Bass between

Big Smallies are still showing up in Door County. Here is my best from Saturday. 4 lbs 10 oz. Fish were in a lot skinnier water than I would have thought yet.

Wish I could get a future picture of the fish I am going to catch. Nice pike!

Here are a few from the past couple of weeks. The last fish was just over 6 1/2 lbs.

That’s not a bass Nice pike though!

I think he was trying to trick us by holding it horizontally. Very nice pike too, especially if caught with no leader.

Had a nice little day on July 3rd. Within 30 minutes, I stuck this 20″ followed by twin 19″. Swim jig, Pop-R, Senko!

I got my PB on Sunday morning. 22.5 inches. Got it Texas rigging a 5 inch Trigger X worm. Got it measured and photographed and back in the water in probably 30 seconds, so she swam off great!

Nothing to write home about, but it was fun to catch. I was bobber fishing with a crappie minnow down about 4′ off the Sunsets docs on Minnetonka in Wayzata. 7′ St. Croix Ultralight, Shimano ultralight reel spooled with 20# FireWire. The line wasn’t an issue, but the action sure was. You can’t horse even a smallish bass with that rig. It was really fun to bring it in.

Picked up a couple others that day… sightfishing in the weeds, mostly.

Thanks a lot. I never figured I’d catch a fish of that caliber here in the north, because they are very few and far between. Still excited over the catch!
