I received a new Curado 201 E7 from the wife as a anniversary gift Over the last 2 seasons I’ve started fishing a fair amount of Swim Jigs. now that I have a new reel I’m in the market for a new rod for this application. I have been throwing my swim jigs on a St Croix Legend Tournament rod designed for Jerkbaits. It is a 6’8 M with a fast action. It has worked well but I’m sure there are other rods that may work for this application better. Curious what others here are using for throwing swim jigs. I’m kind of a St. croix fan but I am open to all options.

I run my swim jigs on a 7′ M St. Croix, I use a Legend Elite but really any St. Croix in that length and power is good for me.

In heavy cover I use the MH. The MH St. Croix is the rod that Monsoor uses as well.

I use the St. Croix PremierĀ® Crankbait Rod Model# PC70MM. I have 3 of them and have no complaints.

Both the Legend Elites and Avid rods I use are Fast action. They were rods I already had and I haven’t had any problems to make me change.

The only complaint I have is the one Legend Elite M I use is the old brown style and the rod handle seems short to me.

7′ MH St. Croix Avid fast action. I switched from a softer M action Quantum and actually have liked the MH better.

Depends on what weight jigs one is throwing… I seldom toss anything over 1/4 oz so the Med Fast works well…takes a tad more weight to pre load a MH action.

I am useing a gloomis sbr812 witch is a 6’9″med extra fast and I throw 1/4 &3/8oz swim jigs on 50#power pro and it works the best of anything i’ve found, in canadas clearer water I used 17#viscios elite flurocarbon w good success.

I’ve been throwing a 7 ft MH Shimano Clarus w/ a Shimano Citica and really like it. The MH Clarus has a fairly soft tip and can huck a swim jig a country mile. The rod also has enough beef for easy hooksets and heavy cover. They’re fairly cheap but for the money, I really like those Clarus rods.

I’ve found a number of rods work for well me. This year alone I had great days with Loomis MBR783GLX & 843GLX, Kistler LTA 6-9 MH, Daiwa Zillion 7′ MXF, St. Croix Elite 7′ MH, and a Megabass Oriochi “Black Elseil” 7′ 4.5 power. No complaints with any of them.

Hello all – New to this forum

I am getting the new St Croix Legend Tournament Swim Jig Finesse rod – Mdl:TBC71MHXF for this, hopefully next week. Pairing it with a Chronarch 200E-7 – will let y’all know how it goes

That’s interesting, didn’t know they had an application specific rod for swim jigs…I’ll be interested in how it fares for you…

Should be a good one. I wish they still offered a full cork handle option. I’m old school on rods that get lots of casting and prefer full cork.
