This morning the plan was to get out on the water well before sun up, catch a few fish, and then get out of there as soon as the sun came over the trees. How hot was it at 4 AM? I had to shut the air conditioner in the truck OFF because there was so much moisture condensing on the OUTSIDE of the windows. I couldn’t see! Today was one of those mornings you think about when it’s snowing and Bass season is over and you can’t wait for next spring. The fish were very active and more than willing to eat a topwater presentation. The smaller fish were making big furious splashy strikes while the better fish would simply pull it down with out making a sound. You really had to be paying atention, especially in the dark. The two best fish went 19 and 20.5 inches, both on a yellow Dahlberg Diver. The weeds are close to where they should be this time of year, and the water on my favorite East Metro Bass lake is even higher than it was a couple of weeks ago. The dock is half underwater now. This was the best morning of the season so far, numbers and size too.
