Today I needed to prefish for a guide trip tomorrow…My good friend Rich Henrion and I headed for Bass Lake at about 1:00. The water temp was only 66 and fishing was slow. We had boated about ten 13-14″males when I decided we needed to try deeper water (break lines).
We came off a deep gravel flat and Rich missed a hard bite on his coffee tube jig… I ran the boat back up to give him another chance when he set the hook and his 6’9″ St. Croix MLXF rod bent over severely… the drag sang! Rich did a good job fighting the beast and I scooped it in my large EGO net…
We were amazed at this Bass! She measured 23.5″ on the Hawg Trough board and 7lb 12 ozs on my IGFA scale. This big lady is probably over 20 years old…
That’s the biggest Bass I ever in my boat… Period…and very uncommon this far north.
Congratulations Rich… We missed the 21+ incher in Cheq Bay Thurs but got the 21.5 here today. The last pic is her going back home to fight again…
