This was taken from another site….

    Thorne Brothers Friends and Family,

We were robbed again on Sunday, Christmas Day, night. We lost augers, pop-up fish houses, and a couple of the new Minn Kota Ultrex trolling motors. If you see any of these items for sale at some super prices we ask that you let us know. Your help is greatly appreciated, so much so that, we are also offering a $2,000 CASH REWARD for any information leading to the recovery of the stolen product; and/or the capture of those responsible.

I would assume that they have the serial#’s and would be able to verify if someone would call them prior to buying one?

Ok, isn’t this like 3 years in a row? Are we sure this isn’t a old posting?

Nope, not an old post. It is their most current posting on Facebook.

Kinda funny when the first thing you think when you see the title of this thread before opening is ‘they were probably robbed again’. But something seems a little fishy…

I know for a fact those are some pretty hefty motors to be toting around. Seems like they lose the same stuff year after year. Never any rods or baits. ???

Seems like a shady part of town? We stop in there every year when go to the Brainerd Ice Contest. You would think that if this can be done every year for the last few years they would have to figure it out? No Surveillance?

Like I said last time this happened, it’s a burglary not a robbery….

Highway 65 in that area is a busy roadway except for maybe super late night. But still, after one such break-in a person would think that the company would install some security measures, cameras at least.

Unless they changed the store since I was there last about the only way in that’s not going to be visible from the highway is the rear doors where freight arrives. But that area is well lit too.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me three times hire a security consultant.

Any other business I’d say sketchy stuff, but I’m sure like many here ive been there quite a bit and have had many good conversations on techniques and been given some hot bite tips that the employees themselves were just on in store as well. Always enjoy going in there.

Chalk it up to circumstances, possibly poor security advice, and hopefully they can figure this out for good going forward, because at the end of it all would we really not want a Thorne Bros here tomorrow?

This just makes me sad. I love the store, products, and staff are great. Being the 3rd time hit, I am sure there insurance will go up and soon to follow will be the prices to offset it.

And a 20 foot tip-up to go off when it zaps someone …

This is a great idea. They can even install one of the alarms to the flag so they get a text when it goes up.

3 times does seem odd, but they caught the guy last time. And For what it’s worth per their FB it was their back storage that was broken into, and they have over 15k in fences and security cameras and anti-theft measures in place. Hopefully they catch the guy again, and can recoup their equipment.

Sounds like an inside job?Raising prices will hurt them, they will lose business to other places, such as Reeds or such.

Have you seen the prices of Muskie baits lately? I’d take a trunk full of baits before a trolling motor. grin Thorne Brothers runs a first class operation and a burglary won’t make a difference in pricing. Thats what insurance is for.

If they caught one of the guys from the previous jobs I’d be interested in knowing the punishment. Probation? 7 days in jail? Slap on the wrist?

You’ve been robbed 3 times in 3 years. Don’t worry about the premiums, we have 3 strike forgiveness. You’re in good hands…

All of the people involved in both previous robberies had prior records and are in prison right now…… they are very confident these fellas will be caught. The last 2 robberies they were not able to get into the store itself just the warehouse area due to increased security after the initial robbery…..

I live in Blaine and the area is wonderful, one of the best suburbs MN has.

TripleA is right. I think it’s biggest problem is that the store is isolated. Nothing is around it making it an easy target, unless the area around it has changed.

Robbery v burglary…Who cares. No one is disputing how things were taken. If someone uses robbery, you know what they are talking about. You need more consequential pet peeves like when people call a 6″ catfish caught in the spring the “young of the year”. Or use the term “heat lightning” which is just lightning period and has nothing to do with heat. Or when someone calls a obvious lizard a gecko because there is one selling insurance on TV. flame flame flame

I disagree Pug. A robbery means workers were present. It also implies a weapon was used with force. It’s calling it what it actually is. Not like your catfish example where people can make up their own terms.
