I am staying at a VRBO cabin in a month on South Long Lake/Upper South Long Lake which is about 10 miles southeast of Brainerd. I have never fished this lake nor do I know anyone that has. From DNR survey reports it appears that the lake is in good shape from a fisheries stand point. I will mostly be bass fishing. If anyone has any advice or personal experience on this lake it would be appreciated. Thank you

Are you staying on Upper or Lower? Both lakes are a little dirtier than most lakes in the area. I haven’t been on either lake this year so I can’t speak on the weed growth this year, but they’re generally fairly weedy, but have some decent weed edges usually around 10ft if I remember correctly. I personally have had better luck on Upper for bass.

The cabin is on lower but apparently the Nogasippi River provides a navigable channel connecting the two under a bridge? Maybe its too shallow at this point to use it. Thanks for the information Blank.

I don’t think it’s really navigable with a boat, and especially not this year.
Actually, I think there is a small concrete dam too.
