My dad and I are heading to Erie on Tuesday, fishing Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday and Thursday. Any pointers are much appreciated as neither of us have been there. Where to launch quad? Bait shops? I don’t need to know gps coordinates of your hot spots lol thanks in advance guys!

Andy is there now or just left. They got some piggies and I’m sure he will be giving a report on it upon his return. You can shoot him a PM at @JerkNPerchSD and he’ll probably give you enough info to run with. Also, if you roll the dead horse over (scroll back through a few recent posts) there are a few IDO members out there and were very willing to share info and help other members out.
I also saw a few other IDO members that were out there via Facebook and it looked like they hit a mother load from the pics whistling

I’ve been through most of them, but you know how fishing is, changes daily. Was looking for some recent info.

Our trip was 2 weeks ago and things can change…..However I gave a buddy the general area where James and I fished and they drilled 4 holes for 2 days of fishing. Saturday they had 4 over 28″ and caught 22 fish. Sunday was much of the same. I do know they were fishing out of Magee Marsh out about 3.5 miles in 21 feet of water. He said there were thousands of people out there fishing and most people were catching.

There is a bait shop on county road 2 heading west from port Clinton, don’t remember the name, but they have great shiners and good current info. I would be stopping there or calling to get more current info.

    Good Luck

The bait shop he may be talking about…. ???

It sounds like a little shack behind a Marathon gas station.

The marsh area they have been talking about on here has had some very recent “emergency” parking changes due to huge crowds. All about parking on one side of the road, and ticketed if on the other. If area fills up, they are turning people away. Found an article in a local newspaper on line.

Behind this gas station mentioned above, there is access in the harbor, and it is close to the access the IDO crew used. Talked to the bait shop this AM, minnows and such… not much for jigging raps. Some spoons and other items in stock. Gas station sells licenses, but if I go I’ll order it on line first.

I’ve been doing some looking for the same info you asked about. Google the address and you will see it is close to the marsh, on the Port Clinton side, at a point in the lake.

Hope it helps…. I hope to go early next week for the first time ever.

    Share what you learn please.

Pay attention to the weather for the next couple days.
