Solix Mega SI Transducer Mounting Location

    Hi everyone,

Just recently picked up a solix 12 mega si unit and have a question about the mounting location for the transducer. In the installation guide, humminbird has a picture of the side profile of the transom stating that the outboard can interfere with the side looking view of the transducer. I currently run a Helix 9 with a older si transducer and have never had any problems with interference from the outboard. My question for everyone using a Mega SI ducer is where have you mounted them and what is the interference like from the motor? I would be surprised if humminbird is expecting everyone that uses the mega si ducer to have a jack plate on the outboard, but I could be wrong.

My set up is a Lund Pro Guide 1875 with 90 merc if that helps at all. Thanks!

I added a 2nd transducer and used a Y cable. I hated getting the shadow of the motor on my previous boat. I would have to trim up the big motor to get both sides

I also mount twin transducers left and right from my lower unit and the high speed ducer on all of the appropriate Y cables.

Does this mean that you guys are running the same Mega si transducer on both sides of the outboard? Im not familiar with the double transducer system.

Looked into this a bit more. Are you then using 3 transducers total? one for high speed 2d, and then two for SI? Seems like using 2 y cables would then eliminate the need for a transducer switch.

The two sonar transducers are split up by using one of the Y cabler so it is only taking the data information for the side of the boat that the ducer is on. The other y cable is spliced so that the high speed ducer is reading 2d and does not loose bottom like it will when using only but 1 ducer for everything.
