Anybody running this boat and getting better than 52-53 mph out of it? I know it’s a heavy boat but seems like 55-56 should be doable. Running Saltwater 2 in 19 pitch at 5900 rpm but don’t gain anything from 5700 up. Just looking to gain a little top end.

    205 w/ 250SHO performance bulletin

Looks like Yamaha has tested that setup and reached the speeds you’re looking for. I’d be looking at motor height. I assume you have a jack plate?

No jackplate, just a setback plate. I looked at the performance bulletin and they are getting 58 with the exact same set up but that was at low elevation and much cooler temps.

I kinda overlooked the fact that your running 5900rpm already. If that’s with normal load, you’re probably very near the max potential. If that’s with your lightest load (1 person, low fuel, empty livewell, etc.), then you may have some to gain by making height and/or prop adjustments.

Just to add another data point – I have the same boat, motor, and prop. I have touched 57 exactly one time running light, with the wind, on empty, trimmed out. My typical top speed is in the 52-53 mph range.

Motor is mounted on the second hole down like it was from the factory.

I sent my prop of to be reworked. Will post when I get it back and test it out.
