Solara Charger Cord Fix

I was talking with Eric the service manager at the Chippewa Falls Boat Center about what I thought was problem with the Solara models.

The power cord for the battery charger came through the battery compartment door, then around a jump seat and then around the backrest of the jump seat. I felt that sooner or later that cord would be pinched and I would need to go through the hassle of splicing new cord on.

Eric took a look at it and said “huh, why don’t we put a charging port in?” With a little explanation, I gave the go ahead and problem solved before it was a problem! Inexpensive too! To be honest, this is the way the boat should come from the factory. Maybe they will take Eric’s idea and make it standard.

Not sure if It came that way or Joe Carlson rigged it that way, but that is exactly how my 2013 mx2025 came to me.

    Same with my WX1910.

And here I thought it was just the brilliant idea of Erics!

Either way, it sure is sweet to blend in with the walleye crowd!

Mine is like that but the Minn Kota plugs are a pain to get the plug out and the little hinge eventually breaks I had a NOCO one but I wasn’t willing to drill a bigger hole for it. So for now I just make sure not to lose the plug cover.

Yep, I had the same problem. Found them on Amazon and bought 2.

or you could use a 5-15 flanged inlet with spring-loaded cover, and just plug the extension cord directly in to it.
