If anyone is thinking of ordering I googled a code of CWRS at checkout and got almost 20% taken off what was suppose to be only 10% code. Not sure what it took off or how long it lasts but FYI.

    Update on these things.

Quite disappointed with the glasses. Originally ordered the gradient fishing lens, and hated the color change. Couldn’t get use to it so contacted CS and they were very nice, shipped them back in and they threw in a neckband and a hat with new lens color, amber.

Low light they do quite well, really enjoy them for driving and those dawn/dusk periods. It rained on us on Leech last week and being able to have them on seeing perfectly clear flying across the lake was wonderful. My Natives amber lens was much darker and couldn’t achieve this. Sunny days they tend to glare off really bad, and the polarization is ok. Sun glare is probably my biggest disappointment. Watching my girl in softball earlier this evening the sun hit that certain angle on horizon and was wondering WTH did I order these expensive things anyways, I cant see crap!!

The only other “good” glasses I had were some clearance Native glasses on campmor few years back. The habit of always trying to find some hidden gems no one else knows about strikes again, next time around ill give in and get some Costas.

Much like one fishing rod or lure doesn’t work for all situations, the same can be said for sunglasses. There is a reason they make multiple shades and configurations. Sunny days, twilight, rain, partly cloudy, stained or clear water, even the sun height in the sky, all have an effect on what lense to use.

There is no “one tint/color fits all” with any brand of sunglasses.

That is the reason guys get 2 or 3 or more lenses to switch out as conditions change.

I have Costa’s and contrary to all the people that love them I find them too dark just like the first Solars you had. Mine are blue mirrors. I went to Oakley’s and love them.

Boss, I’m shopping Costa vs. Oakley right now. Had the same concern about being too dark. Considering the Silver mirror which isn’t quite as dark and an amber base versus dark gray. I’ve had Oakleys and they do scratch easier than the Costa glass…

Blue mirror would not be my first choice fishing in freshwater. I own a pair of costas with the 580g blue mirror and while they were amazingly crisp and clear on bright days, visibility into the water wasn’t what I hoped. I swapped those lenses for grey polycarbonate prescription lenses because I hated wearing contacts and wanted better performance. They do work much better but I think the green lenses are even better. I’ve had these glasses for 6 years and they still look new. No scratches period. I really like the grey lenses for driving but my next pair will likely be green.

I have the green Costa’s too, still to dark for my taste.

I took my family down to the Dells last weekend and I lost my Maui Jim sunglasses. How I lost them in the lazy river, I’ll never know. I had been wearing them for the last 2 years. The amber tint was absolutely perfect for most every fishing application, especially sight fishing. I only realized what I had lost this week as I was trying to bounce back and forth between the 2 pair of Oakley frames with gray tint I had previously been wearing. In my opinion, anything gray in color is almost always too dark. I wore Maui Jim glasses with rose tint for a while too, and I also like those over the dark lens tint.

I never thought I’d be upset over losing a pair of glasses, but I am absolutely bummed out over these. Mostly because I know replacing them will be expensive!

I’m sure just like fishing rods every preference is different, and no 2 sets of eyes are alike. And going off feedback its nice to see what others eyes are similar to mine, and what glasses has worked for them.

    Good thread thanks fellas.
