I just sent in 3 soil tests from 3 of my plots. Got one test back yesterday with bad results. I knew the PH was low, but it has dropped further in the last 2 years. I am down to 5.8 PH. If anyone knows where to get bulk lime in the Fergus Falls area I would appreciate a tip. I have been searching for a couple years at coops and bulk fertilizer places, but no one carries it or uses it up there. I need 12,000 lbs for the 4 acre plot so buying and hauling bag lime is not the best option.

I forgot to add in my message that you should send a message to @trev. He is up in that area and might have a lead.

Any Co-ops for fertilizer up there?

There’s a co-op in Parker’s Prairie, it might be worth a call to them to see if they can recommend someone closer. Lime is tricky because not every ag service or co-op has the spreader for bulk lime. They will almost certainly be able to point you to someone who knows.

Yep, called Pro Ag in parkers praire and they did direct me to towns that have it, but they are not much closer. Tough to pull a 4000lb buggy of lime that far with the F150, which means they need to apply which means more money. Thanks for the help. I’ll keep searching.

Maybe I can get it delivered and rent the buggy and pull it empty that far.

I see big piles around the house here and the devil in me always thinks they won’t miss a few pickup loads… -)

Ironically, you don’t see much lime in SD. Starting to see it more, but pretty rarely.

Same thing in our area. I see piles in fields heading northwest until about Alexandria, then no lime piles after that.

Got the other 2 samples back and PH is those plots is 6.0 Not as bad, but still needs lime. Gonna be a busy spring….AGAIN )

Any dairy farmers in the area that would be willing to spread manure this winter? Many dairy guys dump lime in the barn after scraping. That’s how i get mine fert. & lime

Yeah, actually there is one less than a mile both ways. Unfortunately they always spread theirs on their fields. I could ask though, thanks.
