Software upgrades?

How many of you do regular software version checks and do the upgrades? There are currently a couple upgrade versions for my unit but when I read what they are for, have chosen not to load them. I’m relying on the, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy. I was just wondering if others just do them religiously or don’t even bother looking.

“if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

Always a gamble. If you’re reading the release notes, don’t care about anything in them, and it ain’t broke, hard to see taking it. Patches/upgrades may fix issues but changing the software can always introduce new issues.

Factor 2, how often does the vendor have successful vs issue filled upgrades? I take updates to my droid phone without thinking. Hbird, only if there is something in the notes I care about.

Moral – check often, upgrade only if needed or high perception in trusting vendor success

I keep my graph and tm up to date. I’ve had no issues with failed updates.

I usually wait a while. Then if I don’t find any negative posts about the upgrade I do the install.
I’ve got a Garmin, so I always check BBCboards.net as they have great info.

Only if there’s something I value in the release notes

I’ll hang for a couple of months if I’ve had issues with the previous letting. Then if the net forums that I watch “it’s good” then I add it.

When I’ve had no issues I read into “it’s fixes” and look into them, then decide.

But within a 6 month period I usually add the new update.

like others, I wait a while to make sure the update is bug free, the last update by Humminbird was VERY nice! Adding things like the clock to the overlay seems like a small change, but it’s very much welcomed!
