I am looking to start fishing with some heavier jig and my ultra lights are going to cut it.

My question is – For Jigging Raps, Flutter spoons, etc… Would a medium rod around 28″ would work good for this or is there something better?

BTW how does everybody like using inline reels for jig fishing?

Look for a rod with a stiffer tip but still has some give. Good rods will allow a little cushion in the jig so as you are not going to over jig it.

28″ if a good inside the shack length. Are you mainly inside or out? If you are outside a longer rod 30-32 is going to be much easier.

I don’t personally use inlines on heavier rods and reels. Panfish is where I stop at.

I’m a baitcasting reel user and anything 1/8 oz or heavier is very easy to use. Definitely a medium rod for 1/4 oz to 3/4 oz lures. MH for 1/2 oz to 1 oz lures.

I like 32″ rods, more forgiveness on the fish fight. 28″ will get the job done. 36″+ are easier for hole hopping.

I’m gettin me a TUCR 32″ precision for jigging. I’m gonna pair it with an eagle claw inline reel. I caught 5+lb trout on them last year and they worked great! Used them with spoons, jigs, and ripping raps and never had a problem. Good luck!

John, just bought a 32″ TUCR Precision rod with a split grip from Scheels in Fargo a couple weeks ago… Didn’t know you supplied Scheels with your customs. I couldn’t believe it when I saw them. I have a Pflueger Trion on there right now… Feels like a perfect balance for 1/4 oz buckshots and small to medium sized lipless crank baits… That’s what I’ll be using this rod for.

    Josh,

That is awesome. That is exactly what we were hoping to do for people with going into Scheels.

    Thank you.

I was over in Iowa City this weekend for the ball game and stopped in to Scheels to see what they had out for ice fishing. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had the 32″ TUCR Bull Whip in stock! Went right into the shopping cart..lol
