Snowshoe Bindings

    Howdy,

Many years ago I made a pair of snowshoes from a kit. They’ve served me well for a long time and now I’m having fun out in the woods with my Grandsons. However I’m having trouble with the bindings. Basically boots have gotten a lot bigger over the years as they’ve added more insulation. The bindings I’ve been using simply aren’t big enough any more.

Any suggestions for replacements, or a good place to start?

    Thanks

    Steve

Bob Maki Snowshoe Bindings. I have a pair of these. They work really well.

Question is, do you need heavy insulated boots? Snowshoeing is a workout and warms you up pretty quick, your feet may sweat too much in big boots.

We used to make our own out of rubber. Make them large enough to fit over your boots, Cut them oblong and wide enough with a hole in the middle for your boots them attach up front to the snowshoe and pull over your boot.

Ditto on non fat boots. We have tubbs which fit sorels with plenty to spare, but I just use hiking boots with gators.

I have several pair of Havlick Snowshoes Super Strap bindings. Happy with them.
