Been racking (pardon the pun) my brain on what to get to put on the back of my sled for the year. Looking for something to hold my flasher (LX7) and portable buddy heater as well as some odds and ends. Also, looking to keep it cheaper ($75 or under) and something durable. I saw a Dewalt box at Home Depot that might work. Also, last caveat is I still need an auger rack… So that’s another topic I guess.

    What is everyone here using?

    For the record, it’s a 1997 a Polaris Indy Trail 2up.

It is clear that I am not going to win any fashion contests but this is 100% function for me.

I have a 97 classic touring two-up and I built a custom rear basket and front rack.
This year I am going to find a bigger sealed plastic tote or tool box and build a new basket to hold it so everything will be sealed up.

Mark – Digging up an old post, but wondering if you bottom out when loading/unloading your sled on a tilt trailer? I just installed a similar set up and haven’t had a chance to put it on the trailer yet to find out if the rear bumper catches the ground or not.

Check out rubbermaid action packer series of totes. They come in multiple sizes I got an 8 gallon one last year for under 20$ and just secure it with bungee cords. Sorry didn’t notice this was an old post.

    Yes/NO…
That was one thing I would have changed. I should have built the extension basket about 10-12″ higher. It would not drag on and off a trailer but sometimes going up steeper ditches or road plow embankments would hang up. I generally had to counter with speed…
When you trench out the rear it becomes a PITA to find something to grab on to, I generally lifted by the rack as I could not get my fingers around the bumper.

I am lucky enough to have a rear rack, and just needed to make a custom wooden box out of baltic birch plywood to hold my gear. The pipes on the rear are rod scabbards, and the bungies hold the auger and shovel in place when moving. I made a similar rig for a 2007 Ski-Doo GTX. If you don’t have a rack, you need to figure a way to attach it. Modern Ski-Doos have a modular attach system that would make that part easy.

What is this box and where did you get it ? Never mind I found one on Amazon.
