Alright folks, I pulled the trigger and purchased a sled for ice fishing this season. I’ve been using the Navionics app on my iPhone, but really like the idea of installing a GPS enabled sonar unit (Humminbird, Lowrance, etc) on the sled. I have a trip to the NW angle coming up next month, and the idea of driving with one hand doesn’t sound like an appealing idea – that, and I think the larger screen on the sonar unit would be easier to see. I plan on leaving the power cable and mount on the sled during the off season and transplanting the unit to the boat.

What have you used to mount your unit to your machine? What unit do you run, and why? Let’s see some pictures!

I use the Ram handle bar mount with my Helix 5. It is rock solid when I ride.

One thing to remember is that when you hit the key on your sled to start it it may drop the volts on your battery low enough that your unit shut off. When ever I have my gps running I always just pull start it.

Not a snowmobile, but on my 4wheeler I have the Helix7 mounted to the handlebar post mount with a slightly modified 2.25” Ball Ram mount.

Solid as can be. Put about 30 miles on Mille Lacs yesterday and it didn’t move a bit.

Here’s my setup. My sled had 12v plug so I put one on the power cord for the Helix. Used gimbal mount that came with unit.
