Would a indy 500 touring 2up liquid cooled sled work for pulling a large insulated flip over shack and gear ? Looking for any suggestions $2500 budget

Only thing better would be a fan cooled indy!

Until you run into deep snow and slush and it doesn’t have enough power to get through it. 500 touring liquid cooled is ideal.

Most of the snowmobiles I have had ended up blowing the piston on the side away from the fan

I disagree a 1997 550 liquid bearcat widetrack is the best ice fishing machine. -) I had myself and two of my boys on it last year and pulled my otter lodge. There was 18″ of snow and hit slush pockets. Definitely a pucker moment because you dont know how long the stretch is, but for sure a liquid cooled motor will have a bit more oomf.
Fan cooled machines are generally better in low snow scenarios because they dont need snow to cool off. You still should have ice scratchers to lube the slides however.
Later on in the year when its really warm it can be VERY tough on fan cooled machines. They dont have the cooling capacity that a liquid cooled machine does.

I just bought a 2up indy 500 with e-start and reverse in really good shape, 1997 for $800 to give you an idea. You can get pretty new for that much. Things to look for are the lug depth in the track, I may swap mine out if I find good price on a deeper lug track. For that much you should be able to get a machine with EFI as well.
