There’s no way to measure here anymore with the wind. I just got in from plowing the second time. The pickup with a V-plow had everything it could do to bust through our 1200’ driveway and around the buildings with the drifts splashing onto the hood. The truck is getting parked for the night. Tomorrow I’ll hike down to the buildings and get the tractor with a blade for silage packing.

This is what all my window facing NE look like here in SW WI. Probably quarter inch of ice on my driveway covered up with an inch of sleet.

That’s bad. Not sure which is worse but they both suck.

    My recipe is as follows:

    In a mixing glass, add:
    2-3 tsp of honey
    1 strip of orange rind
    1 maraschino cherry
1 tsp of the cherry juice
    1 dash of bitters
    2 oz of bourbon

Muddle the orange rind and cherry and mix well until honey is combined.

Add another 1 oz of bourbon, add crushed ice and stir to mix. Stir until frost forms on the outside of the mixing glass.

Add 1 cocktail ice cube to a old fashioned glass. Strain into cocktail glass and garnish with another strip of orange rind and a cherry. Squeeze the orange rind over the glass before serving.

Might as well add the Vermouth and make it Manhattan. You got everything else in it!

Still pretty weak in Woodbury. We’ll see what happens overnight.

So for the first time I tried to simplify this whole process tonight. I made a simple syrup with the honey and orange zest. Tastes the same and cuts the production time in half.

I get a feeling EPG is probably MIA until tomorrow.

A bit of rain way down here, the rest of tonight’s forecast is dark followed by scattered patches of light come morning.

I don’t mind winter, God knows my body isnt built for the heat of summer, but seems fitting this is my view this week (FYI, first time in 9 years I have agreed to step onto an airplane)

In the ice zone here. People will be getting bruised up and sore tomorrow.

Not really impressed by the snowppocalypse in SE MN. Was really planning on skipping work but might have to convince myself to reconsider in the morning?

I’m onto Manhattans and just straight bourbon now, but when I was in my old fashioned kick I’d keep a jar of simple syrup in my fridge. Actually making the syrup instead of just adding sugar or crushing a sugar cube makes it so much better!

I was thinking the same thing last night. Definitely a lot of snow out there this morning.

Just got done opening up the driveway to get the wife to work. Ballparking that we got a new 8″

The city already plowed, hoping her drive to work on county roads is okay

I just got home from Bloomington 5 minutes ago, highways and 61 were just fine. Most every one I passed was going 45 50mph. It wasn’t slick, just some drifting and lots of blowing. I drove at 70 just fine. Our side roads are a disaster. I took 17 over to 61 and 17 was just a giant drift up to my fenders on the big truck.

Well it certainly took it’s time getting to st cloud area. Hardly any new snow last night when I went to bed and I think most of what I saw was blowing off the roof. This morning however there is quite a pile. Not exactly sure how much but it’s more than 4 inches on top of the 3 we got the other day and still coming down. I’ll still consider this a miss for the weather Nazis.

We don’t have more then 5 in north branch. But the drifts were 3 ft tall on my side walk and against the 2 trucks in the driveway.

I probably have about 8 new inches of snow since last night but its very difficult to tell with all the drifting. MSP recorded 7.1 inches as of 7am this morning. The highest amount listed was Zimmerman at 13.5 inches.

Well my rain gauge holds 12 inches and its full to the top. No chance of anything blowing into it so we have gotten at least 12 inches with this event since the beginning. Last night there was maybe 6 in there. Its blowing so much and all the paths in my yard that I have blown all winter I cannot even see where they are anymore and we had 2 feet or so on the ground before this.

Up here, it’s hard to see the cows and rocks for all the blowing snow. Only maybe 4″ overnight. Visibility is at 1/2 mile at most.

There’s 14″+ on my deck but that doesn’t mean much. I measured 7″ consistently all over the rink. Still coming down pretty good right now but the radar is suggesting it’ll be ending in the next couple hours. That puts us at 12″ total right now, I’m guessing another inch still on the way.

My street isn’t plowed yet but I did see one on the county road about 45 minutes ago.

Kids should’ve been in school yesterday, definitely not today though.

We got in the whole storm I’m guessing 12-15 in Blaine and Ham Lake. I felt like the only person going into work this morning. Slow day at the shop with everyone else staying home in the state.

That would be my guess too when its done here. Definitely not the 22-24 inches that some predicted.

Yeah a lot of hype over nothing. No surprise they missed the mark big time. Still a good amount of snow but nowhere near what they predicted. A buddy is from Canby and he still has friends down there. Apparently they got absolutely hammered. He said his friend told him they had 19 inches by yesterday morning and another 14 was expected.

Gonna be a long day clearing off the rink to get at least one more weekend of good skating. Looks like the winds die down after dark, everything should be back to normal in the suburbs and beyond by tomorrow morning.

A lot of snow? Yes. Historic? No.

I haven’t followed the weather personalities the past 24 hours but as someone mentioned here it sounds like the storm sucked in some dry air and killed the totals.

Bottom line is that this is probably good for the drought and hopefully helps fill up the lakes some.

When I saw the ENE winds yesterday I knew it was never going to amount to the totals they predicted. That always brings in dry air and just kills the chance to get big snows. The radar showed it was snowing here, but it wasnt hitting the ground.

Got a good 10″ on my driveway in the SE Metro this morning and that’s after I even snowblowed last night. Luckily the roads aren’t completely horrible this morning. Even areas they haven’t plowed yet – I just gave ‘er some gas and that was actually kinda fun! waytogo
