I heard Mille Lacs froze over Wednesday night. This could be terrible with the snow were getting. Anyone in the area have any reports on how much snow?

I’m in Garrison now, and yes there is a pile of snow already with more expected overnight. I didn’t take a measuring stick out there, but the snow was piled up to where I could barely open the storm door to squeeze out. I could see where we’ll have over a foot by tomorrow. Terrible timing as the lake looked to be capped when I came up Thursday although there were small open spots that the coots found. With the wind, lot of areas are blown clear, but big drifts are already there which will be a minefield going forward for any who venture out later. This snow event will challenge even the “seasoned” ice fishing resorts I’m afraid. I’ll try to post pics in the morning.

I’ll be fishing Isle bay this weekend and I have a feeling it’s going to be a bear. Building my smitty sled as we speak in case we cant use wheelers.
