Snow storm is under way

Snowing here now. Small flakes wind out of the NW. They are predicting 6-10″ by morning with 35 mph winds. We will see. Birds were pretty active on the feeders yesterday, haven’t had any yet today.

Bad snow. I love ice fishing and snowmobiling. We have only 4” of marginal ice up here in Tomahawk. Snow slows ice growth, bad for ice safety for both fishing and snowmobiling. I will be punching some holes mid next week to see how much ice is gained after this snow.

Buried under a half inch in Mayberry. Seriously though it melted at first making the roads very icy this morning.

It’s hard to tell how much it’s snowed here by East Grand Forks so far but the weather is ugly with drifts knee high in my yard so far. I’ll definitely have to get the tractor and snow blower out to clean up when it’s done.
That’s fine. I’m just going to get the fireplace burning and watch the Vikes and Lions game this afternoon.

Don’t have 8″ here but it is starting to pile up.

So far, nothing but green grass in southern MN.

14 inches at place north of Virginia.

Well its making ice now! Temps below zero and falling still. Wind is a howling.

Little over 5” on the deck rail. -5 and sunny this morning.

Has anyone here been out to see what ice conditions are like for areas that got the snow? I’ve heard that some of the places up North had a quick switch to fluffy lighter snow with the back end of the storm that although drifted and created visibility concerns, shouldn’t create instant slush pockets.

I’m very curious myself buckybadger, as I am leaving we’d morning for the bowstring area

Hopefully not another one of “those” years. This is indicative of El Nino but they assured us that was not the case. They are still saying La Niña. We’ll see.

They predicted 6-10″ here in Roseau. We maybe had 2-4″. Hard to tell with it blowing around.
