Does anyone run their blower late at night? I figure it’s not like grass that can wait. What do you guys think?

It needs to be done and if you only have time at 12am, then so be it. It’s not ideal but I don’t know what else you can do.

I usually don’t run mine in the morning or evening but unlike the summer everyone has their windows closed this time of year. Mine will be running about 430am tomorrow.

I see you’re in Apple valley. I’m in Rochester and the weather map I just looked at shows snow yet for at least three maybe four hours. It’ll be longer for you. Get up early and do it.

On another note, this snow is fairly lofty and noise will be absorbed big time by it. I don’t think I’d be too concerned as long as you aren’t huffing it along a neighbors windows along your driveway.

Everybody has to go to work. Everybody understands that. Try and get done as quick as possible. When you see your neighbors thank them for their understanding.

In Mpls and St Paul where the city can/will fine you if not cleared in 24 hours, anytime is the right time IMO.

We had about 5″+- so far at 7pm in galesville wi (20 miles north of la crosse). First winter in this house and first time using this new to me snowblower so I did round 1 at 7. Figured it would give me a chance to figure out how this blower likes to run and the best way to blow the driveway when I’m not under time crunch. Didn’t seem like anyone minded, I’ll be back at round 2 at 545 tomorow morning. Now if you were out there at say 1am that might be a different story, but can’t really control when it decides to dump on us.

Guessing at looking out the window id say we got another 3″ or so since 7pm, hard to say for sure with the snow blowing around.

Around here we all do it whenever we want or can. Everyones windows should be closed anyways right? I do several if my neighbors too. If I don’t work the next day, sometimes I have frequent Barley Pop breaks and have a good time of it. Those nights I tend to take care of more neighbors than actually need the help. Lol. Gotta lubricate the joints right? Let it snow!!!!!

My closest neighbor is 500 yards away so any time I want is ok. I was up at 4am this morning with the diesel tractor and only the dog was upset.

I don’t think in the city snow blowing is even remotely as bad as grass cutting. Windows are closed, snow dampens the noise, and it’s gotta be done before heading to work.

Living in the city and being an early to work person I also start the blower early in the morning 5:00 am. One thing I do to make it a little less bothersome for the neighbors is to do the sidewalk that runs in front of our houses.

My offering to the neighbors – You don’t like when I do it? Fine, then do it for me when it’s convenient for you.

I don’t have the luxury of time. If I’m available at 2am or 11pm…or 1pm, the driveway gets done (or multiple times if required) when I’m able to do it. In the winter, there are plenty of things to absorb the sound and minimize the sound. A well insulated home with the windows closed, snow on the ground, and usually around here a stiff wind ,following a snow fall helps reduce the decibel level.

In 15 years, I only had 1 neighbor complain to my face. I left the snow blower out, a gas can, and a shovel and told her the garage was unlocked and to put it away when she was done. Suddenly it wasn’t a big deal jester

The best time for me is before my closest neighbor so he doesnt notice how much I threw on his driveway! doah

With that kit you installed last year, I’d have thought you’d be throwing snow 3 driveways down. rotflol

Seriously? I leave for work prior to 7:00, so I need to allow time to clear the driveway and shower beforehand. It’s just the way it is.

I plow snow for the city and we usually start at 2AM, so my driveway gets snow blowed at 1AM. Our houses aren’t very close together, so I don’t feel too bad.

Reason #1,108,769 why I moved out of MPLS. It’s not like mowing your lawn.
If that’s mpls’s rule then they should tell Mother Nature she needs to comply to city hours.
