Snack sticks

Now I remember why I took time to make that 18 pounds of extra venison grind into snack sticks. Sitting out on the driveway in the 68 degree sunshine with a cold Castle Danger Ale and a half dozen of these hotties and it just can’t get any better than this.

With Castle Danger not all that far from the cabin Ma and I made it up to the garage where the brewery got it start for tastings a few times. We were happy to see the brewery successful enough to build in Two Harbors and since they’ve already expanded. I can buy the Danger Ale right here in Rochester now. Its fun watching something like the brewery grow like it has. And the Castle Danger Ale is a super easy brew to like.

Another beer I can get locally that I first had while in Texas over the winter is Stiner Boch, made in Stiner, Texas. This is another easy to drink beer.

A six pack of either beer lasts me a while as I don’t drink much. I’m just as likely to have a cold Sharps that I usually keep on hand in lieu of beer. One in a while though an occasion rolls along that a good beer just makes better.

You’d better have some “active” plans or you’ll end up looking similar to the old boy in the picture, only terminally Glenn. Maybe take up Marlin fishing so you actually get some exercise out of your fishing. Sunfish are like swatting bugs, not much exercise in catching them, unless you’re using a belly boat and have to cross two miles of open water to get to the sunfish swamp.

Riverruns has it down. Way better than sunfish.

Not sure who you are replying to here Tom? Glenn or riverruns?

No matter, my pic was for illustration purposes only. I know well, was laid off during the “great recession” back in 2007 and was “hanging” for a couple years. First year was great just for the down time, but found after that…you gots to have something to get up in the morning for. Two years out of work was a tough lesson, nevertheless a good one for later in life. Been back at work since 2009.

Once I retire…sure, I’ll spend plenty of time doing nothing much more than holding a rod in my hand. After that? Que sera sera

Absolutely Glenn. I’ve been studying up on fish sausage, mostly using carp and you’d be a good, or should I say great, taste tester. Imagine, carp sticks and carp summer sausage….mmmmmm.
