    Air Boat Seat

Anyone get a chance to try these yet? Wonder if they eliminate the ejection seat feel of the ultras?

Heard a lot of guys says this, but its weird that none of them can show you how to adjust them to stop this. (spent a whole day with a couple guys one time adjusting to no avail)

I think its a weight thing they say they are rated for 300lbs, but anyone I know that has bought them and is north of 250lbs doesn’t seem to be happy with them. They all complain about the ejection seat feel. That said the 5 or so guys I know that run them and weigh less than 250lbs seem to be extremely happy with there ultras.

Talking with a sales guy he says the air model fixes that issue for the bigger guys and the bigger guys all love these smooth moves air seats. I was hoping some guys on here had real world experience with them. Its not that I don’t trust sales guys, but it is there job to sell!

I’d love to hear experiences with these. With a bad back and fishing big water, mainly ML lately, I have loved the air ride pedestals from Atwood and Springfield however they do not last very long. My last set of Atwood pedestals made it four years. The Springfields lasted at least four years, not sure when they were originally purchased.

For this season I switched to Springfield’s spring seat pedestals. I hope they don’t feel like an ejection seat.

Smooth moves are expensive but I’d spring for the expense if they worked and lasted more than five years.

I picked up a set of Airwaves. They are rated to 400lbs (I hope I never get to the point I have to worry about it), but I am a pretty good sized guy. Going to install them as soon as my 5200 shows up. I will put up a report after I give them a go.

I am over 250lbs and I will say this about smooth move…. They’re better than nothing, but having tested all of the different manufactures seats suspension the smooth move would be at the bottom of the list. Both my dad and I have gotten the ejection seat feeling every time out. We have adjusted them every which way and nothing gets rid of it. The problem is the rebound is done with a spring so there is nothing to slow it down.

I sent it once in my old mans boat on Mille Lacs and I basically if I wasn’t holding on the the steering wheel I would have went for a swim.

If I could choose any seat suspension I feel Airwaves are the best. Very smooth ride, and rebound is non existence.

I’m a fatA$$ so looks like the airwave for me lol. That being said I did sit on a smooth moves one day and I had the ejection seat feeling twice that I can remember. Otherwise I was just thankful to have it that day

    Bumping this back up.

Not wanting to risk the ejection seat feeling busting across Mille Lacs this summer, I broke down and purchased more Attwood adjustable air rides. Ordered online and the price was reasonable. I think they were less than the simple spring loaded non-adjustable jobbys from a local dealer, also purchased and still sitting in the garage months later. I’ll have to double check the receipt.

I have a bad back from a motor cycle accident nearly 30 years ago and want to avoid regular solid pedestals if possible, and the ejection seat. The adjustable air pedestals have worked great in the past, just not as durable as I’d hoped.

Wave pro you only buy once work great much better than smooth move ejectors. Haven’t tried air wave I’ve been happy with wave pro and left it at that.

Those Airwaves have been becoming more and more popular.

I spoke with Kristin Day the manager and she was very helpful.
I just need to try them before pulling the trigger.

I must have a magic set of Smooth Moves, as I bought them in 2007, and have had nary a problem since. Never once felt like I was going to be ejected, nor has my partner, and I would not consider either of us small by any sense of the word.

I don’t understand how AirWave can claim in it’s advertising video that it’s the only air-suspension system that can be custom adjusted to the weight of the rider?
    My WavePro’s do exactly that.

We all tend to praise whatever it is that we happen to own. I do love my WavePro seats: work extremely well at smoothing out the ride with no hard shocks and no ejections, easy to adjust the air pressure, and offer a very clean look with just the post and no excess superstructure. Love them.

It’s all based on your weight. You get an air-to weight chart to customize your ride according to your weight.
I’m not a salesman for them, but I think this video will explain it better than I.

I don’t own airwaves.. I am in the process of saving my pennies for a set though. I have friends that have boats with different manufactures. My old man owns smooth moves and I tournament fish out of it.

My buddy had Air Waves in his ranger and I loved the ride of those things. So after being able to literally test them all and me buying my new rig I am buying what I felt was the best out of all of them.

But again, I have the most seat time 3 years on smooth moves.

I will say the wave pro’s are right behind the airwaves in comfort.

Lol…That wasn’t a comment about you, Brian. It was me acknowledging this truth before I was about to praise WavePro, which I do own.

It’s all based on your weight. You get an air-to weight chart to customize your ride according to your weight.

I wasn’t questioning their claim about an air-suspension that’s custom set to the weight of the rider. I was questioning their claim to be the “only” one that does so…as my WavePro seats do the exact same thing: set the air pressure using a hand pump based on weight of the rider. In fact, I use the same Fox Shox pump for my WavePro that they show in that AirWave ad.

    No prob Michael.

Where they’re getting “the only” from is that AW’s are riding only on air where the WP’s have a “hydraulic shock absorber” to aid the air (or maybe it’s air to aid the shock absorber?). Mechanically assisted if you will.

I haven’t plopped my butt on a WP so I can’t attest to their ride.

Is the AirWave designed to be run with the canvas cover over it? The scissor action of the X bars look downright dangerous to kid fingers or dog noses or tails.

I have been running Wave Pros for many year. You will not be disappointed. For those who are a little robust, they just came out with a heavy duty model.

Guys, I have a pair of Ultras by SM. My best friend gave then to me for my birthday after turning a big birthday year.

I wish to repay him, in kind “IF” there is enough improvement in the ride that would justify the costs. He Spent around $1,200 including the governor +/-. I wish to embellish him with just as much gratification as he gave me to open my eyes to the difference in the ride!

I’m awaiting your verdict for a couple of fat old boys that are 265 to 300 with vertebra issues in the back and neck.

I put my airwaves in my new WX2190. All I can say is wow! They are the best. I have rode in the smooth moves and never will again. I run Erie, and they have taken the chop out of it for me. Nursed a sore back all winter from golf of all things. I am not sponsored by them in any way, they are worth the money.
