2 1/2 hours at 250 I used apple chunks for smoke. Makes great deviled eggs, egg salad or just peel and eat with a cold beer.

I’ve done both hot smoke in the shell and cold smoke peeled. Cold smoked definitely gives more smoke flavor but I’ll gladly eat both.

Never tried a smoked egg. Never heard of a smoked egg. Smoke em if you got em?

Call it a dry hard boiled. LOL!

Next step is to make a Scotch egg out of it by wrapping it in sausage and putting it back in the smoker.

Friend of mine gave me some cold smoked eggs, they were delicious. He pre-boiled them and peeled before putting in smoker. It was delicious, I plan on doing some for family Christmas this year for deviled eggs!

Do you put them in cold water right after removing? Since this only takes 2.5 hours an I am doing it one night this week. I need to get a smoke generator so I can cold smoke things like eggs and cheese.

Get an A-MAZE-N tube or maze. They work great for cold smoking. Depending on the outside temperature on a given day, I can even drop the inside box temp with ice on one rack while cold smoking.

I make a 50/50 mixture of hamburger and Jimmy Dean Hot sausage and then add typical meatloaf ingredients like some bread crumbs, raw egg, garlic powder and a squirt of either ketchup or bbq sauce.
