Just saw some speculation the Big 10 might be adding Oregon, Stanford, Washington and Cal, on top of USC and UCLA who are for sure in for the 2024 season. This ship sailed long ago, so no sense complaining now. Heck they might as well try and add Clemson, Notre Dame, UNC, Baylor and an Arizona school and just cover the whole country. Call it the Big 100.

It’s really getting watered down. They’ll certainly have to have another division.

Of course, DISH cuts off ESPN this morning so can’t watch the Gophs.

Is Mo Ibrahim not playing? Don’t see him on the stat sheet.

Wisconsin getting their ass beat by Beliema..lol

The Big 10 West is terrible. Wow.

Badgers being blown out by Illinois, Gophers scoring 3 points in the first half against Purdue at home. Nebraska being Nebraska. Iowa is also a shell of what they have been the past decade. Northwestern is down from what they have been.

Does someone have to playing in the title game from the West, or can they just accept a forfeit to save face and preserve a chance at maybe being wrongly ranked in the Top 25?

i try to get into college ball but its tough. the best programs get the best players from all over the country who go there to play football. where is the competition? kind of like pro baseball without a salary cap or NBA where the best players pick to play with each other.
i been loyal as a fan of the wolves since 89 and thats been hard enough. cant imagine thinking a team like the gophers who has to go against OSU and WIS every year has a glimmer of hope. maybe if they keep adding teams to the big 100, the gophers can win a leg?

Purdue and Illinois present a bigger challenge to win the win the west than Wisconsin and Iowa do, clearly.

Wisconsin fired head coach Paul Chryst. Defensive Coordinator Jim Leonhard has been named interim head coach.

Would not be surprised if Leonhard is promoted to permanent HC there. He’s a very good coach on the come up.

The Gophers have added Alabama to their non-conference schedule for 2032 and 2033. Tells you how far in advance some of these games are being scheduled.

Goldy is favored by 6.5 at #24 Illinois on Saturday. Not sure I agree with that spread favoring the visiting team. Illinois is 5-1 on the season. They are coached by Bret Beliema.

Glad to see that. Should quiet down all the “cupcake non conference schedule” types a little.

Unless you consider it as Alabama scheduling the cupcake. coffee
Both currant head coaches will just be a memory by then.

I dont think any program would consider the Gophers a cupcake at this stage. 10 years is a long ways away.

Saban will be 81 at the time this game is played and the world could end twice before then. That far in-advance is an irrelevant point with regards to “cupcakes” or not. It is a significant change in strategy, but who knows what will even define a cupcake by then, whether or not pads and helmets are still a part of football, and so on.

Yeah I’m sure there’s a logistical reason, but I’ve never understood why NCAA teams make these agreements/schedules this far out, and I’ve NEVER seen one scheduled 10 years out. I’d really like to know what the thought process is behind this. In comparison, the NFL schedule is somewhat based on your previous year’s standings (if the Vikes finish second in the north, they will play the second-place finisher from another division). I might have the timeline slightly off but I believe sometime after the Super Bowl the NFL releases who a team’s opponents are, then in March they release the full schedule. Then they’ve got maybe a 6-month timeline to starting working logistics, scheduling all kinds of people, arranging travel, etc. I’d like to understand why the Gophers just scheduled Alabama 10 years out.

Few more teams and scheduling conflicts in college than the NFL. 10 years seams a bit long.

That’s a really surprising line. If I were a bettin’ man I’d take Illinois and the points..

I’ve assumed all year the Gophers would lose to Penn State so they’ve pretty much gotta win the rest of them to have a shot at the West title. Knowing that, I like that Illinois is ranked #24 because if the Gophers win, which I expect them to and they need to, it’ll look better on paper, which is what matters when it comes to voting.

No, it really doesn’t. Gophs had no reason to be favored in this game, with or without DeVito being in the game.

    They’re frauds.

The Big 10 West is the worst it’s ever been as I’ve been saying all along. It’s too bad someone from the West will be in the Big 10 title game, as the top 2 from the East should get another shot at one another.

The Gophers don’t have a chance. Penn State will embarrass them.
Should I have a crow on hand just in case?
