Smart Phone Fishing Apps

Do you have a favorite fishing or hunting app?

I don’t have (nor want) a cell phone. But, others keep pressuring me to get one. I might get one if there’s some decent hunting and fishing apps to be had. A phone may be worth having if it could show moon phases, barometric pressure trends, lure color selection, DNR season info, species migration data, spawn/rut/breeding data, lake maps etc.

Thanks for the input. I’ll try to keep this first post updated with direct non-affiliated links to the suggestions.

I haven’t found an app called ‘Best Fishing Times’ yet.

I use, Best Fishing Times. I shows all moon phases, sunrise, sunset times and major and minor feeding periods as well as weather, wind and barometric pressure. I actually schedule a lot of my trips based on it.

The weather apps are great for seeing the hourly wind and wind direction, weather radar and sunrise, sunset.

There is an app for trolling line lengths / depths/ lures.

I’ve heard of (but not used) an app used to take a pic of fish and it tells you the measurement of the fish. A guy was using it to measure a French fry at B Wells bar in Frontenac last week and it seemed pretty accurate.

Texting is handy as heck too if you do NOT get a flip phone. Just don’t drink and text, or drink and call. Leads to embarrassment.
