Smallmouth water near twin cities

    I wanted to fish some smallmouth from shore. Wanted to change it up from pool 2. Anyone know within 45 minutes from St. Paul? No need for exact spots but any water is appreciated.

    The Rum and Upper Mississippi are probably best for shore fishing.

    Yup, just follow the Mississippi north! Some great small mouth fishing to be had!

    WBL has some really nice ones, but their isn’t a large population of them.

    Somerset wi have some great fishing for smallies.

    These are all diff fish and were all caught in June/July below a new dam opened up that flows directly into the Mississippi between the CR dam and 169 bridge. Its on my way home from work so some days ill pull over and make a few casts. During this time all bass caught were at least this size and I would catch ALOT of them, some days every other cast. The only reason i took pics is because i was trying to convince a buddy to show up.

    Alot of ppl caught on now its not as good but they are still in there… I just pitched minnow/leech tipped jigs or senko rigs into the spillway and let them drift back to me. Sorry if i killed anybody’s spot…
