Heading up Friday and looking for any info. With the forecast for wind, will most likely be fishing out of Garrison. Anyone been out lately? Just curious if bite is still good

Water temps still hovering in the low 60s? I’m trying to plan my next couple of weekends to get up there and hit smallies again. Think it will stay 50+ through next weekend? Or should I view this weekend as my last chance?

Will they typically stay shallow until water hits mid-low 50’s or are they moving deeper already?

Last year on 10/3 I did well in 18-20 fow and the water was 49. I’m also hoping to get out a few more times this year.

How bad is it to fish in 20mph winds if I’m fishing the protected side? It’s calling for pretty strong west winds tomorrow, how bad would it be if I’m just staying close to the western shorelines?

I really want to go out tomorrow, but it’s a 2 hour drive and I don’t want to be completely miserable.

Not sure if you ended up coming Phil, but it’s not bad at all. A bit of a chop but the sun’s out and it’s looking like a nice day.

I can see at least a couple boats on Garrison reef so I’m sure if you put in anywhere on the west side and didn’t venture out to the middle, you’d be fine.

    Phil:

I agree with Andy!!! Our experiences up there the couple of weeks we’ve spent over there were very similar. We’d trailer to the other (lee) side of the lake and while the windward side might be experiencing 3 to 4 footers or more, it was always fishable on the lee side!!!

And there are plenty of spots to fish on any side of the lake semi out of the wind!!!

Fished the west side of the lake Monday. It was all we hoped it would be. Lots of smallies from 17 to 21 inches. Been hearing about this bite for years. I regret not doing this sooner. Plenty of nice bonus walleyes too.

They were 54.5 on the west end of the lake this past Sunday.

I’m thinking about heading up next Thursday and Friday. Weather looks ok and maybe light winds.

Never fished the lake at all outside of a little ice fishing. With light winds where should we start? I was thinking points and reefs in 10-12’ with live bait and maybe plastics.

Wind might be from the south so we might end up on that side. We’ll see but any quick pointers would be appreciated.

Anyone know the water temp? We are headed up tomorrow for the last open water trip of the year.
