Anyone been there lately targeting smallmouth? How’s the bite? Wondering if it’s worth the 2 hour drive this coming Thursday. Also, any signs of another bug hatch coming?

I was up yesterday morning and managed to catch about a dozen smallies with the biggest being 19″ and a couple walleyes.
I fished a couple east side reefs and found clouds of bait and active fish in 17-20ft on bigger rocks.

Pretty brutal when I was up on two Sundays ago. Fished for them for about 4 hrs then switched to walleye. Hopefully the water is clearing up and the bite will pick up again. Never seen the lake so dirty.

I was up last weekend and fished Saturday night on the north end. Water was clearer than the week before. Fishing was a little slow for me. One smallmouth in a couple hours of fishing. Overall I have been catching a lot more smaller fish than usual this year.

I spent a couple hours fishing them last weekend and caught quite a few small ones and one 19″ that I thought was going to be a tank. He made one jump about 4′ out of the water. Great fight, but most of the rest were in the 10-14″ range. I didn’t try deep at all, just shallow rocks 6-10′ deep.

    Ditto on Sticker’s report.

Pretty good bug hatch from Thurs through Mon. The robins on the front yard were so stuffed full they could barley fly!
