Hot Bite this weekend for sure, and lots of fun, not to mention a dozen or so walleyes mixed in

Thanks for the report and pictures.
I got out for a few hours yesterday and have to agree the bite was on!
A dozen or so smallies and as many walleyes fishing mid depth rocks. 12-14ft was best for me yesterday.

We were out Sunday morning for a few hours in the wind and did OK. I was using a crawler on a bobber and @Grubson was playing around with plastics. I don’t think there was much of a preference to which bait they liked better. As long as we found fish with the electronics we were able to catch a few of them from the pod. It was slow at times but never a bad time fishing the Big Pond!

They were incredibly aggressive Saturday, between my daughter and I we caught over 50 on dropshot and plastic. Including this piggy

    Sunday water temps were 72-74.
So hasn’t cooled much yet but hopefully soon.
We caught our fish in a few different areas as shallow as 10 feet and as deep as 21 feet.

I agree on the water temperature. We found the big ones in 28 ft.

Week and a half ago, we were catching them in 10′. As it cools down the, it should only get better … which is scary. We caught at least 10 fish at 20″ or better. With one at 21.25″.
Last weekend a buddy caught 3 or 4 at 21″. None of them had there big ol’fall belly’s yet either. Should be a fun Fall.

I haven’t really seen a huge preference in lures all year really. Find fish and pick your poison. Tubes are tough to beat.

We put a couple in the livewell that we kept for taking pictures…later released. The well was full of crawdad remains … anything crawdad colored works!
