I was just on the big pond for 5 days fishing smallies 6/9 – 6/14. Very slow, so I was wondering if anyone else has been on them in the last week. I fished shallow, deep and in between. Never could figure them out. Ive never done well in fall on a warming trend and w/t was 66 Sun and 69 friday when I left out for home.

Only got a couple two weekends ago but mostly because the waves and wind made it darn near impossible to fish for them.

They have not been nearly as aggressive the last couple of weekends compared to September, with that said we were able to catch a 15 or more each morning of the last couple weekends, but not nearly as many 18″ plus fish. the strong southern winds have really made boat control tough.

Caught Friday August 31st trolling crankbaits in about 24.’ Nailed a walleye patterned sr-7—my new favorite color by the way. I usually get a big smallie or two on the North end trolling for walleyes over the sand, gravel, silt, and mud out nowhere near the rocks (a lot more common fishing reefs or deep boulder breaks), and the first one this year is my personal best right at 22″ and will be going on the wall.
