This lake has had winterkills in the past, Dnr report says it has a lot of crappies and a few Walters too, report is a few years old so I am not sure. I called the fisheries person for that area and they did not know for sure if it had a kill or not. I am not naming the lake because it is small, someone on this site knows the lake and if it is still good. Already scouting stuff for ice time and have to be picky where I go because my fishing time is about to get cut by about 75% Send me a pm.
    Thanks

If it’s the lake I am thinking of up in that area for panfish it got pounded last winter. Everytime I was there it had wheelhouses and just a lot of people.

Some of those lakes can take it, just don’t want a lake that had a winter kill,
    Thanks rj.

I know what you are talking about, you will be fighting duck hunters more then anything. It gets fished hard to. Word has been out for a while

Come on up and join the crowds. You aren’t ever going to have a lake to yourself anyway.

Makes it sound that they are all the same, some lakes really produce more than others. Sure they all cycle some cycles are: Ok, bad, very bad, back to ok.

Winterkills aren’t necessarily a bad thing. Can give a lake that has stunted populations of panfish a chance to reset even as soon as a few years later.

Pretty sure all the lakes near Isanti hold only small panfish.

Had a guy once tell me the lake I was about to fish was froze out. He had a sled full of gear, bait, everything prepped but he was going out to a lake that was dead-ignored him, got our limit bet he did too.
Some people if they catch 10 8inchers before they get a 10, they think thats annoying-does not bug me a bit,if I get some keepers for some tacos cool!

You guys were right that lake is deadsville, talked to someone who lives on the lake, said the fishery was just coming back from a hard spank 10 years and it was hit again very hard last winter.

Funny? I talked to someone that lives on the lake, he has seen that lake get pounded, the law says you can only have in posession one limit, impossible to enforce so people take limit after limit, people throw back the big ones so the average size just gets smaller. Thought it would be a nice lake for my friend who is in his 70s, does not get up too early does not drive in the dark, the lake has dark water so mid-morning or afternoon would be good, oh well, I mostly fish bass this time of year. Was a little embarassed to report back thought I should, thought i might get the: “I told you so…
