Small Hydraulic leak from Power Trim/Tilt

It’s me again…same guy with the WX2200 initial quality issues. I decided to post this on a separate thread as its an issue with the engine not boat. I am prepping for a trip to Lake Ontario later this week and noticed a small amount of hydraulic fluid in my driveway. It appears my power trim unit must have a small leak. Whats strange is I noticed a small bit of fluid late in the day on Sunday and cleaned it up and put a bowl under the unit to avoid it getting on the driveway. This morning there was no sign of a leak. However, later today I again had a very small amount of hydraulic fluid in the bowl (2 drops). I don’t understand why there was no leak over night but then a small amount later today. Yesterday and Today were the warmest days we have had all year (mid 80’s)..so I thought maybe the sun/heat had something to do with it (thermal expansion?) but the cylinder was not warm to the touch.

I assume I have a seal issue that the dealer will have to fix hopefully at the same time they address all the other issues. Anyone have a similar issue? Any reason to believe this is not a bad seal?

I’m planning to fish later this week as I already took the time off work, booked a cottage and have a few kids pretty excited to fish. Planning to take a quart of hydraulic fluid just in case I need it.

Another ‘paper cut’ that I was hoping to avoid by buying a new boat. BTW, I did send a letter to Jeff Stone at Skeeter last week. I expect to hear from them this week as I am still waiting for fixes on 4 other issues with the boat

    Thanks Again

Common problem on a Yamaha which I assume you have. I have had to deal with this 3 times in 8 years. Only problem the Yamaha has ever given me in 12 years of owning them Had way different and many more costly problems when I had Mercury’s.

I have 2018 2190 with 300 Yamaha and mine seeped a little over the last 2 winters in my heated shop and my 2016 2060 did the same. Never messed with it. Maybe I should?

Yea not a huge deal. When mine have done it I just had it repaired on my annual service trips. I live 2 hours from my dealer and he has said that unless it is really leaking not a big deal. Only complaint I have ever had about my Yamaha’s. Don’t think I will ever own a black motor again.

Might want to check the fluid level, when it warms up it seems to leak. Also i might just be changing the viscosity when it warms up to seep by a bad seal.
