Strange, my gas auger with the standard flutes doesn’t “throw ice chips all over the place” or up in my face like they described. Maybe mine’s defective?

No but I bet your auger actually cleans the hole out when you’re Drilling through deep ice… the Kdrill can’t even clean the hole out when drilling in 30″+ of ice. He doesn’t talk about the part where his segmented flutes basically make the auger not usable late-season.

I have personally seen many people just give up drilling holes with a K drill when there’s thick ice. Maybe the guys I was watching we’re just doing it wrong? But I saw what I saw and they couldn’t use their augers. Multiple people with K drills basically throwing them down on the ice in defeat. I was kind enough to bring over my StrikeMaster “hand auger” and drill combination so they could fish that day.

I have used one on Winnipeg in March never an issue. So maybe user error. Dunno.
Used to have to clean the hole out with a power auger there too so I guess I have been used to it.

I have had zero issues with the K-drill in 36″ or more of ice.

I still don’t see how it is a scam or dangerous to use a hand auger on a drill….lol choice verbiage. I have 6 seasons on a lazer and drill and still haven’t broken my arms ;)

in this video he says protecting your arms is all about holding the drill correctly….even says the k drill will break your arm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erACTndvQ_E

Dug a post hole or two in my life and you always lift the bit and clean the hole, hard on everything if you don’t. The kdril is a great product, used one for 3 years, switched to the lite flite last winter and I for one prefer it to the kdril. Lite Flite cuts smoother and doesn’t catch as often as my kdrill did. Had my dewalt drill torn apart to replace the cracked chuck and found that the drill casing was cracked almost all the way through. Always used it on a clam plate so i know why it cracked where it did. Both augers are great products but I think they were a bit too aggressive when it comes to bashing a competitors product…..

I witnessed the same scenarios when we were up on Devils end of February. 32″ of ice had the Kdrill guys in my group begging to use my propane eskimo with extension.
