I would be happy for any help with this.
    I have a HDS10 gen 1 with radar and RC42 rate compass.(using the HDS unit’s GPS)
When I am at slow speed or beeing stationary, the refresh rate of the boats course is very slow 6-15 second between each time the map changes direction. This is very annoying when i am navigating between underwater structures trying to place the longline at the right spot.
If i read the data from the compass when i turn it slowly 360° it changes constantly and seems smooth and nice, showing correct compass course and turning ° in seconds, but when the navionics map is active it is slow.
Is there any way i can adjust the refresh rate. Or snything i can do to overcome this?

I’ve never ran radar but something I did on my Gen1 HDS units was change the logging type to time. Seem to really help while trolling slow. Here is how to do it:

    Press Pages
Go to Waypoints, Routes and Trails
Use the cursor pad and scroll over to Trails and hit Menu
Scroll down to Setting and press Enter
Change the Logging Type to Time
Set the time to 1 Sec. Press close and Exit.

GPS update speed on the HDS units changes with how fast you are moving which is an auto setting from the factory.

The first Gen and 2 gen button HDS units and the HDS Gen 2 touch all have a 5hz refresh rate on GPS update.

The Gen 3 touch or if you incorporate the Point 1, it doubles to 10hz refresh rate which is MUCH smoother for slow movement.

There is no way to update the refresh rate of the older units besides going with a Point 1 antenna.
