Just curious is it safe to sleep using an electric heater? I’m not willing to sleep using a big buddy and I understand it might be spendy gas wise to run an electric heater all night but any risk of harm using a generator and electric heater in a pop up for sleeping?

There are no fumes given off by an electric heater nor does it use oxygen. You should be safe.

As long as you have a generator running get a CO2 detector also.

Why don’t more people use this setup?

You wouldn’t be able to sleep with the generator running full bore all night.

I always have an electric heater in my wheelhouse as a back up. You never know when you might have heater issues.

I think just about everyone of my friends that ice fishes with me has used it at some point. They work quite well in my opinion.

But as Pout said, the generator running at high idle all night is less than ideal.

Why not just use a buddy?

Not my lifestyle choice but I don’t judge those that do.
